The St. Mary's Convent in Peekskill, NY was constructed as a training place for new sisters and a haven for elderly, ailing sisters. It contained a small chapel inside the 1876 Abbey, shown here, as well as a secondary larger chapel built in 1896 of quarried stone adjacent to the Abbey building.

In 1961 Bob Dylan made a trip from Minnesota to Greystone Park Psychiatric to visit singer and idol Woody Guthrie, who was being treated at Greystone for Huntington's disease. When Guthrie's disease worsened, it was assumed he was either drunk or schizophrenic and was placed in the institution for treatment.

Greystone Psychiatric Hospital was built on the Kirkbride plan in 1871 to relive the overcrowding of nearby Trenton State Hospital. This last patients at Greystone left in 1988, but it wasn't until 2000 that a decision was made to close the hospital.
