Travel: Wyoming 2014

Last month, I spent 5 days in Wyoming with my brother and Dad.

Similar to last year, my brother and I flew to meet up with Dad on his 6,000 mile, 6 week road trip across the Western half of the United States in his 1950 Ford Woody pulling a 1947 teardrop trailer.

We started off in the Grand Tetons for 2 days and then went North into Yellowstone for the last half of the trip.

Having never been to Wyoming, I didn't know what to expect, but I was hoping to see buffalo or a moose for the first time in addition to the amazing mountains, beautiful geysers and thermal activity in the area.

Of course Wyoming did not disappoint. I saw wild buffalo, got within 30 feet of a bull moose and saw many beautiful unreal pools of bubbly hot water. I paddle boarded on the most beautiful lake I have ever seen surrounded by the Grand Tetons, lilypads and fish, camped in a tent through 2 nights of torrential downpour as the lightning and thunder crashed all around and loved every minute of it.

Thank you family for the amazing adventure!

Exploring Oregon with my iPhone

Last weekend, I spent a few days venturing around Oregon with friends. Saturday we explored the many waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge and on Sunday we wandered the Pearl and South East Districts of Portland as well as Cathedral Park.

I really enjoy getting to experience new environments and since this was only my second trip to Portland, it still all felt very new. The air smelt different, very fresh and crisp. The skyline was instead blocked by trees, not massive buildings. The weather was much colder and wetter than San Francisco and the amount of nature and greenery I absorbed was overwhelming.

During my travels, I always try to also capture my experiences with my iPhone because of the freedom to easily photograph an instant without altering the moment by setting up a DSLR.

Travel: Montana 2013

Last week, I spent four days with family in Montana, around Glacier National Park.

My brother and I flew into Spokane on Wednesday to meet up with my Dad, who is on a 6 week road trip with his girlfriend, traveling in his 1950 Ford Woody pulling a 1947 teardrop trailer.

On Thursday morning, we drove to Glacier National Park and camped at the West Glacier KOA until Sunday morning.

We spent our time driving, hiking and paddle boarding in the park and though the trip wasn't a photography trip, I still managed to get a little shooting in.

I am definitely looking forward to making a return trip to Montana specifically for photography, adding Banff and Jasper into the mix as well.

Photo: "Always Take the Backroads"

Antioch Baptist Church, Georgia

While on road trips, I like to avoid the major freeways and take backroads when possible, because most often, the best finds are off the beaten path.

While cruising through Georgia, in between shooting abandoned asylums, +ed roppo and I stumbled upon this church. It appeared to still be in use, the front door was open, but it was a great fine nonetheless.
